UR beats RPI 12-8, making today a memorable, and cold, Senior Day.
Hopefully, the team gets in both games tomorrow, starting at noon!
Snow today and in the forecast for tomorrow.
Very nice to have the Fuke's in town and travelling to Vassar this weekend!
Great group of seniors celebrating their careers at UR thus far, very emotional, but lots of baseball left!
See you at the ballpark!

A split with Skidmore today
UR splits with Skidmore this afternoon in Albany
A small contingent of UR supporters braved the weather ( cold ) to see the teams compete on Saturday.
Field was in good condition, but wind was a factor making fly balls an adventure to say the least!
All things considered, it was good to come away with a split, but a few key plays and/or hits and they win 2 today - that's baseball!
No midweek games this week - rest up for next weekend vs. Clarkson at Rochester!
See you at the ballpark!

Home Opener snowed out
Yes, lovely spring weather in Rochester, NY! Snowed out today against Fisher and this weekend looks like a washout also.
Wish I was back in sunny Florida, I am peeling and my tan is fading! ughhh!
AT LEAST I WOULD BE ABLE TO WATCH BASEBALL!!!
Well, hopefully we will get games in next week!
Don't know what the reschedule plans are yet???
Hopefully, see you at the ballpark - any ballpark that isn't underwater or snowdrifts!!

Home opener just a few days away!
Well, the boys have had a week to get prepared for the rest of the season in upstate NY. Current schedule has them home against cross-town rival, St. John Fisher on Wednesday at 3 PM.
Fisher is currently 8-4 and riding a 5 game win streak, we came out of Florida dinged up and 4-6.
Many freshmen got valuable playing time in Florida and I am hoping that this will prepare the team for the regular season and beyond.
To quote someone in Florida - " It's not how you start the season, but how you finish it!"
Hopefully, the team starts this part of the season with a big win!
This weekend Skidmore comes to town for the traditional Liberty League 4 game set, 2 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday!
See you at the ballpark!

Opening Day 2011
Team arrived safely as did many parents and UR fans! Long travel day for the team, they should sleep well tonight!
Had the opportunity to see the Florida vs. Miami game last night in Gainesville. What an atmosphere, almost 5,000 people to see the # 1 team in the nation Florida versus an in state rival in Miami. Florida came away with a fairly easy W, you could see the gap between the 2 teams on this night!
Welcome to Florida and the Opening of the 2011 UR Baseball season!!
Team is getting a practice in today, get used to the sun, being outdoors, etc.
Tomorrow it begins for real!
No live stats available that I am aware of for the games tomorrow against Husson, but the Wentworth Baseball page does list that live stats will be available for Monday's games.
Probably need to continue to work on that for UR!!!
Can't wait for tomorrow!
See you at the ballpark!

PS: Nina's Birthday today! Wish she was here in Florida, but she indulges my baseball habit!

Hi everyone
As Ed said, I will be sending out a parents list as soon as Coach finalizes the team. Any new parents, please send me your contact info including email, address, and phone contacts. Parents who know other parents please spread the word to send me the info.
Jim Ludwig is coordinating the dinner. He arranged March 10 as a tentative date with Coach. Anybody who wants to help... contact him when the parent list comes out.
Looking forward to another season...
I can be reached at jcaghan@aol.com or 330 280 4366.

Groundhog predicts great season in Rochester
Early spring predicted - great for those early season games! Practice started this week, hopefully many of you are planning to travel to Florida in March. I personally can't wait! Just about 1 month to opening day.
I checked the Wentworth site and they listed the games on 3/7, as being played at Lake Wales Florida - possibly at Warner University as listed on the Russ Matt site. Still not sure about the 3/6 games against Husson.
To the Schefflers and DeClercks thanks for your comments after the Thanksgiving post, but please realize that I am a parent just like you, my son is the coach but does not blog with us. I hope you continue to participate in the blog and I will take the Schefflers up on their offer to help in some way when we get to Sanford.
To any and all parents - My wife Nina and I are local to UR, about 20 minutes from Campus and I work downtown about 7 minutes from Towers field. If there is any way we can help please feel free to contact us. My cell # is 585-362-1995. Jim and Karin Ludwig are also local, so there is plenty of local support
I recently spoke with Jeff Caghan and he will be putting together a parent contact list for 2011, and I think Laurie Parker has volunteered to set up the parent dinner in Florida, yes?
We have a great group of parents that are very supportive of all the boys and the team in general. We will have cookouts, dinners, provide lunches for doubleheaders, etc Whatever the team needs. We are open to new ideas so feel free to contribute!
Looking forward to 2011, starting to pack for Florida!!!!
See you at the ball park!
