The Rochester boys of summer travel to Olean, NY this Saturday to face D-1 St. Bonaventure on their home turf in the only "game" of the fall season. The game starts at 1 and will be a 9 and 7 inning DH.
Coach emailed me that fall ball is going well with the freshman class looking very good to this point. The newest members of the UR baseball family are showing a lot of depth and pop!! The returning players have shown a significant improvement over the last year and as always, all will come down to pitching!!
I am planning to be in Olean this Saturday and hope to see any of you that make the trip!! Nina may tag along, but that will probably be a game time decision. I am planning on bringing sandwiches for the team in between games.
In case you have not yet heard, it looks like Eddie will be working with the team this spring as a volunteer assistant. He is going to meet with coach when he gets home. It is a great opportunity for him to build his coaching resume. If all goes well, you may have to put up with me for another season. "Say it isn't so, Joe!"
Eddie has had a great experience in Germany, he has had a good season and was named to the all-star team for one of the leagues he played in. He is ready to come home and his first stop will be Nick Tahoe's for a garbage plate!! He is getting back to Rochester on Monday, October 6, after stops in Amsterdam to see Jeff Juron ( Last years UR basketball point guard ) who is playing basketball there and North Carolina to see Devin Shane who is working there, and Jess Sorrentino @ UNC where she is persuing a doctorate in toxicology.
I'll keep you all posted.
See you at the ballpark!
