Blue Team wins World Series

The Gold team won the suspended game and the Blue team won the regularly scheduled game to claim the championship. The only thing left for the fall season is the alumni game in a few weeks.

There is rumour of more cuts this week, but that will remain to be seen.

My best guess is that they are at 31 currently and will need to get to about 26 for the spring.

Alex Gamoran has decided not to play this year as he seeks to complete a semester abroad. That helps coach out with cuts, but I will miss Alex. He is a very polite young man, and a good teammate. He was well liked by his teammates, I wish him the best.

Game suspended in 12th, play Saturday AM

The game last night saw the Blue team get a big lead, the Gold team rallied furiously to tie late in the game, and they played until darkness halted the contest at the conclusion of the 12th inning.

The boys go at it again this morning. If the Gold team can secure the victory, they will play another game in the series immediately following the suspended game. If the Blue team is victorious, then they will continue with a scrimmage.

Both teams wanted the game yesterday, late in the game, we saw Pete and Blair pitching for their teams through scoreless extra innings and both teams will be short on pitching today.

Blue team leads series 3-1

The Blue team took a commanding lead in the series by winning last Friday and Sunday, Sandwiched in between were 2 games with Finger Lakes Community college.

Next game is Friday, the Blue team could wrap it up, but Gold is strategizing for a comeback.

Many parents were around the games this past weekend, including Cannon's from Chicago, Brocks from Pittsburgh, and the usual suspects that live locally....

Several met at Champps in Eastview Mall for dinner after Saturday's games.

There were also quite a few parents in support of the freshman class... I remember being in their shoes only a very short while ago! They were concerned about cuts, would their son make the team???

Florida update - We are scheduled to play Skidmore in Florida as part of our Liberty League schedule. What this means is that there will not be an off day on Monday as in years past. We would travel to the Tampa/St. Pete area, play 1 game on Saturday, then 2 against Skidmore on both Sunday and Monday, and then move to Sanford for the UAA tournament starting on Tuesday. Let's hope that we don't draw the doubleheader early in the UAA tournament and that we have pitching available for both Emory and Wash U.

Rumor was that there will be cuts this week, Coach told all the boys that they were making all those decisions difficult, due to the hustle and performance displayed on the diamond. Best of Luck to all the boys!

That's all for now, Blue vs. Gold wraps up this weekend!!!
